Areas of the Livingston County Jail received a new coat of paint this week. The majority of the jail had the original paint from 1978 and was in need of being painted. We have painted the day areas of the jail a bright yellow to brighten the areas and significantly enhance the contrast for the jail cameras for a quicker and better display and viewing on the monitors. All the metal bars, bunks, tables were painted black.
Since we were at the lowest population we have had in years (25) and we had to shut the system down for work on the heating/cooling system we took advantage of the nice weather and knocked all these projects out this week. The Sheriffs from Caldwell, Grundy, and Daviess/Dekalb Counties were kind enough to assist us in holding our inmates during this time. We kept 7 detainees here to help with the painting and eliminate any additional costs. The men did a great job and everyone is enjoying the fresh and brighter look.
