Public Information on Recent Events

 

Incidents/Investigations/Arrests/Other Information:

 

The LCSO has completed an investigation of a delayed report of alleged felony Domestic Assault that was to have taken place the first week of May 2013.  Investigation files are being submitted to Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren for consideration of charges.


 

Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis filed a report with this office regarding a juvenile that allegedly sent improper communication to another juvenile via text message.  Parents and juvenile officer were contacted and the matter has been fully investigated.


 

A trash dumping case near Liv 235 and Liv 2364 was investigated and the owners of the trash spent several hours picking up all the litter in that area.  Investigation is now closed.


 

We have completed 2 investigations of alleged Obstructing Justice at the Livingston County Courthouse with respective incidents taking place April 23 and April 24.  Reports are being submitted to Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren for consideration of charge(s).


 

On the evening of April 29 deputies and troopers responded to a location in the western part of Livingston County after receiving credible information a citizen was headed to a specific location to end their life.   No criminal act took place.


 

An identity theft investigation from earlier this month has concluded in Livingston County.  The local victim had identity and credit/debit numbers stolen and used in other location(s).  We have worked with the Hamilton PD, Caldwell County Sheriff and Grundy County Sheriff on this investigation.  We recovered a large television which had allegedly been purchased at a local business in Chillicothe and have returned that to the rightful business owner.  The suspect will face multiple charge(s) in more than one county.


 

Our staff has remained very busy working on a variety of criminal investigations and providing security for a Civil Jury Trial which was expected to last 3 days.


 

On April 30 William L. Graham, 50, Chillicothe surrendered to the LCSO after learning of an arrest warrant issued by the Court for alleged probation on original conviction of felony drug violation.  Bond has been denied by the Court and Mr. Graham has been turned over to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail pending next court appearance.


 

April 30th a deputy made a custodial arrest in Dawn of Michael E. Dehart, 39, Dawn for alleged Driving while Revoked/Suspended.  Mr. Dehart was later released on a summons.


 

April 28 we arrested Tye Joseph Evans, Wheeling at the Livingston County Courthouse on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Probation Violation.  Mr. Evans was transferred to the DDCRJ in lieu of bond.


 

Sheriff Steve Cox has authored and completed a grant application to the Missouri Department of Public Safety for the 2015 Deputy Sheriff Salary Supplemental Grant.  The LCSO is seeking a total of $33,183.30 in grant money of which $26,124 would be paid to supplement the low salaries of deputy sheriffs and the remaining $7,014.30 pays the costs of benefits (social security, work comp and retirement) expenses for the county.

Presiding Commissioner Eva Danner-Horton is the authorizing official for the grant while Sheriff Cox is the Project Director.


 

Currently we have 44 people incarcerated in the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail, 12 of which are female detainees.


 

A recent Poll question on the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office website (www.livcoso.org) yielded interesting results.  The question was “How do you view the recent stand-off in Nevada between rancher Cliven Bundy and the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM)?

The non-scientific survey results were:

2.6% voted they agree with U.S. Senator Harry Reid as they are “Domestic Terrorists”.

7.9% said they support the BLM.

10.5% were neutral to both sides.

78.9% reported supporting Cliven Bundy.
