Current Events, Investigations, Arrests, and Other Information

Incidents:

December 10 a report was made of a stolen car dolly from private property in the 17000 block of Highway JJ near Avalon.  Item was stolen on or about December 01 and investigation continues.

December 11 about 10:44 p.m. Deputy Ryan Ford responded to a call of a disabled vehicle on U.S. 65 near Highway JJ that had a blown tire.  The vehicle was the same one which had been reported stolen in Chillicothe only minutes earlier.  The caller reported to dispatch the driver was leaving in the car.  Deputy Ford saw the alleged stolen vehicle being driven on U.S. 65 with a flat tire.  After the vehicle was stopped Deputy Ford’s investigation resulted in the arrest of Janie Elizabeth Simmons, 38, Chillicothe, for alleged Driving While Intoxicated.  Ms. Simmons was subsequently turned over to the Chillicothe PD for further interview.

December 12 we completed an investigation of alleged Attempted Trafficking in Children.  The investigation alleges the father attempted to solicit $1,000 from the mother in order for him to sign and waive parental rights to the child.  A Livingston County warrant was issued and executed in Buchanan County on Jason William Marable, 24, for alleged Attempted Trafficking in Children, bond set at $10,000.

December 12 we investigated a report of violation of a Grundy County protection order during a school program at South West School.  The victim reported the female respondent allegedly violated the order by harassing and making physical threat(s) towards her during and/or after the program.

December 14 we began an investigation of Stealing by Deceit where the victim reported the suspect(s) allegedly have swindled him out of about $50,000.  Investigation continues.

December 15 a Utica resident reported the theft of his 18’ Woods trailer from his yard in the 500 block of St. Louis Street.  Investigation continues.

December 19, Deputy Sheriff/School Resource Officer Mike Lewis filed a report with our office on an incident reported at the Chillicothe Middle School.  Allegedly a juvenile student had made a threat in writing on a work sheet and this was found by a teacher in the possession of the student.  The juvenile officer and parent(s) were summoned to the school and the investigation is continuing with the juvenile office.  The school officials have/are taking additional administrative action.

December 21 we began an investigation in the 7000 block of Liv 414 near Ludlow.  Suspects entered private property and stole 120, 6 ½ foot green colored fencing posts and 1 and ½ rolls of barbed wire.  Investigation continues.

 

Arrests:

December 08 we served a Boone County arrest warrant on Julia Louise Miles, 33, Columbia, MO for alleged Failure to Appear in Court/Dangerous Drugs.  The arrest took place at the Chillicothe Correctional Center.

December 10 we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Patrick Richard Oyler, 37, Trenton for alleged Violation of Bond Conditions on original charge of class C felony Theft/Stealing of any Credit Device.  Bond was set at $10,000 cash.

December 11 we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Kendall Claude Hall, 30, St. Joseph for alleged Probation Violation on original conviction of Property Damage 2nd Degree.  Bond was set at $1,450 cash.

December 18 we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Danielle Marie Lopez, 25, Utica for alleged Violation of Order of Protection for Adult, class A misdemeanor, bond set at $2,500.  Ms. Lopez was transferred to the custody of the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.

December 23 we served a Clinton County arrest warrant on Nicholas Wayne Reynolds, 21, Chillicothe for alleged Failure to Appear in Court on original charges of possession of up to 35 grams of synthetic cannabinoid, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and C&I Driving.  Bond was set at $707.50 cash.

On December 23 we served a Livingston County arrest warrant on Athena Rose Chandler, 33, Brookfield, for alleged Bond Supervision Violation on original charge of class C felony Theft/Stealing and class B misdemeanor Making a False Declaration.  Bond was set at $10,000 cash.

 

Other information:

Currently we are holding 35 detainees in custody at the Daviess Dekalb County Courthouse.

On Criminal Law Day Judge Thomas Chapman sentenced the following people to the Missouri Department of Corrections.  We have caused all persons to be delivered to prison per Court orders:

Gregory M. Anderson, 44, Chillicothe

2 cts Distribution of Controlled Substance; 8 years each count - concurrent; Court ordered long term substance abuse program

Receiving Stolen Property; 7 years - concurrent with above

 

Quentin Blake Bassett, 19, Tina

Animal Abuse; 4 years - shock incarceration program consecutive with other charges

Forgery; 7 years - shock incarceration program consecutive with other charges

 

Wyatt Allen Cooper, 41, Chillicothe

Possession of Controlled Substance; 3 years consecutive with other charges

 

James Ray Fainter, Jr., 31, Chillicothe

Unlawful Use of Weapon, 2 years consecutive with other charges

 

Colten J. Raymo, 22, Wheeling

Distribution of Controlled Substance, 8 years consecutive with other charges

 

Brent Allen Slaughter, 25, Columbia

Distribution of Controlled Substance, 5 years consecutive with other charges

 

Christina M. Clemens, 27, Chillicothe

Stealing, 7 years consecutive with other charges

 

April D. Owings, 33, Trenton

Distribution of Controlled Substance, 5 years consecutive with other charges

Abuse of Child, 5 years consecutive with other charges

 

The week of December 16, three men were sentenced to the Missouri Department of Corrections by Judge Jason Kanoy.  We have caused all 3 to be delivered to the Missouri Department of Corrections:

Jonathan B. Cassidy, 26, homeless, 2 counts Possession of Controlled Substance given 5 years and 2 years to run consecutive.

Joshua Caudill, 26, Wheeling, Distribution of Controlled Substance, sentenced to 4 years consecutive with any other charges.

Steven M. Powers, 55, Avalon, Possession Controlled Substance, sentenced to 10 years consecutive with any other charges.
