We are currently investigating a report of property damage and discharging a firearm at a residence on Liv 251. The home owner reported a loud vehicle was recently outside the home and stopped in the roadway for a moment and then quickly left the area traveling south on Liv 251. The home owner subsequently discovered a window to the home had been shot with what was most likely an air rifle. The projectile went through a portion of the window. A child and other adult were sleeping inside the home during the event.
We have shared this information with area law enforcement and are now seeking any information from the public.
On the morning of May 31, Sheriff Cox enforced a Court order to forcefully evict tenants of a property on Jackson Street in Chillicothe. The home was found to be vacant and possession was given back to the land lord.
We have completed an investigation into the reported theft of a firearm in southern Livingston County. The suspect has refused to meet or speak with a deputy in person and we are now seeking an arrest warrant for that individual.
On May 29, we investigated a report of domestic disturbance on Liv 228. The parties decided to separate for the night.
We are busy working with area agencies on other criminal information and/or investigations in this part of Missouri.
Early this morning Deputy Ford was passing through the 400 block of Vine Street in Chillicothe when he saw a male suddenly attempt to duck down in a parked vehicle to hide from the deputy. Upon stopping to investigate further then man reportedly started walking away quickly and was stopped. He was found to have 2 outstanding arrest warrants, one from Trenton for alleged Contempt of Court. We arrested Daniel Lee Harding, 27, Trenton, on the Trenton Warrant. During the arrest Deputy Ford was assisted by the Chillicothe Police. Upon arrest the officers allegedly seized drug paraphernalia from the suspect. A report will be submitted to the Prosecuting Attorney for consideration of charges. Mr. Harding was turned over to authorities in Grundy County.
On Thursday, Sheriff Cox attended meetings in Jefferson City at the Missouri Sheriff’s Association.
Currently we have 40 detainees in custody at the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.
