Updates on LCSO Activities

We are investigating a report of property damage and theft from agriculture equipment near Liv 529 and Liv 534.   Investigation shows that sometime from October 12-15, 2012 unknown person(s) stole two large fire extinguishers from two pieces of farm equipment and carefully removed one Ag Lead monitor valued at about $8,000 from one of the machines.  The person(s) responsible also drove over standing beans and heavily damaged the standing crop.  Potential DNA evidence was recovered from the scene and is being submitted to the crime lab for possible identity.  Investigation continues.

On Sunday, October 14, we investigated a report of possible child abuse/neglect and found no supporting evidence or probable cause to take the child into protective custody.  We were assisted by the Division of Family Services.

On Tuesday, October 16, we investigated a report of possible child abuse/neglect in Utica.  Division of Family Services assisted with this investigation and found no supporting evidence or probable cause to remove the child or suggest a criminal violation.

On October 11, we continued with an investigation of trespassing on private property in the north east part of Livingston County.  The investigation resulted in discovery of a 38 year old Chillicothe man allegedly having permission from a hired hand to deer hunt on the property.  The individual was given a warning for the trespassing as the land owner did not want the individual there.  The suspect was also cited for alleged Driving While Revoked and will appear in Livingston County Associate Court on October 31.   A report was also made to the Probation/Parole Officer who supervises the suspect.

On October 09, we began an investigation in the Ludlow area of a reported assault.  The investigation revealed that a young man on bond for a current criminal charge in Livingston County was attempting to elude family member(s) who had posted his bond.  The family member(s) were seeking to surrender the individual to the jail and withdraw their bond.

The LCSO is working with the Rural Crimes Task Force regarding recent area agriculture related thefts.

On October 16, we extradited Kendoll Claude Hall, 28, from the Randolph County Sheriff on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Assault.  Mr. Hall was incarcerated in the Livingston County Jail in lieu of bond.

We currently have 36 people in custody at the Livingston County Jail, 8 of which are female detainees.

Last week Deputy Mueller attended the Wheeling town meeting and Sheriff Cox attended the Utica town meeting where area information was exchanged.
