Current Events, Crimes, and Arrests

On July 18, we investigated a report of Child Endangerment as a young child was reported to be wandering alone and along a gravel road north of Highway 190.  The deputy discovered the young child had initially left the residence without the knowledge of the mother who had already discovered the situation prior to our arrival and had retrieved her young child.  There is no prior history of problems with child care at that location and no criminal violation exists.

On July 10, we served a Linn County arrest warrant on Jimmy R. Fainter, 24, Marceline, for alleged class C felony of theft/stealing.

On July 13, we arrested Vernon W. Hines, 23, Chillicothe, at the LCSO on a Livingston County arrest warrant for alleged Domestic Assault  2nd Degree.  Bond was initially placed at $10,000.

On July 16, about 9:26 p.m., a LCSO deputy and 2 troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a location in the 600 block of Depot in Mooresville regarding a call of an intoxicated man who was in possession of a firearm.  The investigation resulted in the arrest of Jeffrey Tod Allred, 43, Mooresville, for alleged Domestic Assault in 3rd Degree.  Mr. Allred was taken to the Livingston County Jail.  Formal charges were subsequently filed by Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney Adam Warren for alleged Domestic Assault in 3rd Degree and bond was set at $1,000.

On July 16, about 5:50 p.m. we investigated a report of a fire in the Ludlow Cemetery.  Area firefighters extinguished the blaze which had burned approximately 3 acres.  The deputy interviewed one person of interest who allegedly had been seen at the cemetery prior to the fire and learned the person had previously been in an argument with their significant other.  Investigation is continuing at this time.

On July 13, we began an investigation of reported theft of renewal tabs from Missouri license plates.  The resident resides north of Chillicothe.

On July 18, we transported Alicia A. Smith, 35, Chillicothe to the Missouri Department of Corrections in Vandalia to serve a 15 year sentence for a drug violation conviction.  Ms. Smith was on probation for a drug violation conviction(s) after a Livingston County Sheriff’s Office undercover investigation which ended in 2008.

On July 14, we assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol in executing arrest warrant(s) on Samuel Joseph Johnson, 27, Chillicothe for alleged failure to appear in Livingston County Court on original charged of Driving While Revoked/Suspended.  Mr. Johnson was also arrested on an outstanding Carroll County warrant for alleged Failure to Obey a Judges Order on a charge of Trespassing.

On July 13, we investigated a report of about 1 acre of grass burning at a location east of Chillicothe near Liv 230.  The investigation shows the property owner discovered part of his property was on fire and the land owner explained he was in his home when he noticed the smoke.  The land owner had not seen or heard anyone in the area prior to the fire.  The land owner was able to use his own equipment to extinguish the fire.  The area is far enough away from the roadway or anything else to explain why this began burning.

The Livingston County Jail currently has 37 people in custody, 10 of which are female detainees.
