February 2012 Editorial

Last month we shared our new website information with you.  Since then I have received many positive calls, emails, and comments about our website www.livcoso.org .  Our goal has been to share information with our citizens to reduce overall crime and help apprehend those wanted and take them before the Courts. 

We officially launched our new website on January 26, 2011.  I believe it is fair to say this has been very productive to date.  We have received numerous calls in and email tips regarding the location of 11 fugitives which have been apprehended and on several criminal investigations.  Some of the tips obtained have been useful information for criminal activity even in southern Missouri and we have shared that information with the respective agency with jurisdiction.

At the time of this writing on Feb. 20, 2012, our web stats show a total of 2,142 unique visitors (same Internet Protocol or “IP” address or individual computers, tablets, or smart phones) viewing our web site.  Of these 2,142 it should be noted that 1,462 have been just in the month of February and a running total of 4,328 visits to our web site and a total of 152,441 pages viewed.  The peak day since January 26, 2012 was February 16 with 341 unique visitors and 9,618 pages viewed.

Again our goal has been to disseminate public information to our citizens to keep them informed of what is going on in their community.  We also share information about our office, what we do, and the experiences we have.  We believe the communication we have with our citizen’s results in a safer and better place for all of us to live.

We encourage everyone to view www.livcoso.org and click on the “Alerts” to sign up to receive information from the websites press releases, most wanted, sex offenders, and message from the sheriff.

We are on track for updating the website in March 2012 to permit website viewers to check on our jail roster, see arrest photos, charges, and related information.  We also plan to have a complete listing of all outstanding arrest warrants to compliment the “Most Wanted” section.
