“New Goals for New Year”

 goal picture

We wanted to begin the New Year with better ways to serve our citizens. We understand the importance of sharing information with our citizens as many times we must rely on tips and information from the public in order to solve crimes and help our victims.  By placing much of our information on the web we believe we will see an increased amount of tips on crimes and wanted persons.  Our press release section will provide much information on area crimes and other activities which involve our office.

I am happy to report that in just a few days of being on line we have received multiple tips on locations on some of our “Most Wanted”.  We are working with those authorities out of state for warrant service.

In the next several weeks we will have a secure interface between our website and our records management system and you will be able to access our jail roster and active warrant information through our website.  You will see who is currently in the Livingston County Jail and related information and who has been released from our custody within the last 48 hours.  It is important for the public to view this information as we believe it will help area law enforcement in solving more crimes and better serving our citizens.

In today’s world many younger people do not read the papers or listen to the radio but instead they are on social networking sites on the Internet.  Our new web site is linked to Facebook and we have already seen many people accessing it through Facebook.

Anyone may sign up for notifications from our office by clicking on the web page and filling in some brief information.  You may receive notices through text or email and select which notices you wish to receive.  By doing so you will have the information the same time the news media receives it off the website.

Other goals for the first of the year included upgrades to our records management system and this will permit the mobile data terminals in the deputy patrol cars to link with dispatch.  This is a very valuable tool for our officers for many reasons.  Some of the benefits included with having a computer in the car is a deputy on a crime scene can instantly upload photos of missing persons or other photographs and instantly send out state wide through Missouri Information Analysis Center (MIAC) or send to our office for distribution.  We can take statements in the field for reports instead of wasting time in going to the office to type this into a computer.  We can instantly obtain criminal background information on anyone we are dealing with.  We can quickly check vehicles, people, or items for being stolen.  The deputies will see MIAC information live instead of only when they get back to the office.  MIAC sends many emails out daily on fugitive and criminal information, suspicious vehicles, stolen property, missing persons, and drug transports.

In all we believe we are taking a couple of huge steps forward in our ability to help all our citizens while solving crime and making certain wanted persons meet the Judge.

We hope you will join us at www.livcoso.org

Be safe and enjoy the weather!!!
