With the passing of 2013 we are hopeful that 2014 will be better times for everyone.  We hope for peace, prosperity, and for time to enjoy life and everything it brings all of us.  2013 was a challenging year for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office.  We lost the jail operations a year ago and our dispatch and 911 center left the building and is housed within the Chillicothe Police Department.  That left 7 deputies, the office manager and the sheriff here at the LCSO to care for all your needs.

For the most part the transfer has been successful and enabled us to do much more work in the county and spend more time in the schools than prior to these changes.  We went over our estimated daily prisoner population so our budget reflects that.  However there were many areas in several of our budgets we were able to save tax money.  We are waiting on the end of your revenue report to accurately calculate the differences.

Our goals for 2014 are much the same in that we intend to increase the amount of time spent in our schools, provide you with well trained and responsible officers, be prepared for all types of emergencies with sufficient and prompt responses, and continue with due diligence on criminal investigations.

In 2014 we also want to partner with our citizens and have a Sheriffs Citizens Academy, additional Power-Up programs for women, and begin a Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy with the Grand River Technical School and Missouri Sheriff’s Associations Training Academy.

We have some key training planned for some of our staff to attend which will help our office save money with annual training requirements.

I will soon be preparing an end of year report for the public on information within our office for 2013.  Hopefully by sharing our information with you we will help prevent some from becoming crime victims in 2014 and will help make our job easier.

On behalf of the men and women at your Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, we wish you a Safe and Happy New Year.
